A native of Rockford, MN, Steve Waddell will begin his fourth season as a collegiate volleyball coach this year.

Coach Waddell saw great success this past season, finishing with an overall record of 24-13. Maddie Stefonowicz, Bailey Munson and Desidy Schwanke were all named to the All-Region XIII Team, with Stefonowicz earning All-Conference honors as well.

Prior to coming to Lake Region, Waddell has been an assistant and head coach for a variety of teams throughout central Minnesota, most recently coaching at Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa High School. While at BBE, the team placed 4^th at the Class A State Tournament in 2018 and 6^th in 2019. Throughout his coaching career, Waddell has amassed over 200 wins and was the 2018 Section 5A Assistant Coach of the Year, and the 2019 Central MN Conference Head Coach of the Year.

Waddell attended St. Cloud State University where he was a member of the SCSU Mens’ Volleyball Club. Throughout his playing career, he earned All-Conference during his sophomore through senior seasons, and he was named to the National Championships All-Tournament team, where his team placed 5^th overall.

On top of coaching, Waddell will also be teaching English at Lake Region State College.
