Strength and Conditioning
Strength and conditioning is important for any sport in order to improve performance and decrease the risk of injury. LRSC has developed a program that is position specific and includes in-season and off-season workouts.
Off-season is the time for our athletes to really increase their strength and power. Student athletes may enroll in a course that provides exercising to be completed 3-4 days a week. The course will include heavier weight training for the major muscle groups, exercises to increase core strength and speed and agility drills.
In-season workouts do still exist. Exercises need to be completed to stay strong and keep the athlete healthy. These workouts include lower repetition and higher weight to keep that strength base but allow for less time in the weight room. It is an expectation that LRSC athletes remain strong and strive to improve themselves not only in sport specific skills but also in the speed, strength, and agility areas. Tracking of progress in strength will occur and be an integral part of the program.
