Bio

A native of Hutchinson, MN, Colden Hutton returns to Lake Region as the Head Coach of the Lake Region State College Lady Royals for his first season. Hutton was previously named interim head coach of the Lady Royals for the 2021-22 season. In the 2021-22 season, the Lady Royals had a 3-game win improvement from the previous year as well as coaching 1st team all-conference player Tiziana Huici.

Before coming back to Lake Region, Hutton spent the previous season at William Woods University. At William Woods, the program posted a 19-9 record, which is the best record in school history and the best conference record in school history. The team finished 1st in the country in rebound margin and top 5 nationally in overall defense.

Hutton spent the 2022 – 23 academic year as an assistant coach at Iowa Wesleyan University. At Iowa Wesleyan, Colden Hutton helped lead the Tigers to the winningest season in the program’s 115-year history, finishing with a 27-3 record and winning the CAC Conference tournament. The Tigers ranked as high as #23 in the NAIA Coaches National Poll and qualified for the NAIA National Championship. The Tigers also finished ranked first nationally in overall defense while going on a 20-game win streak through their season.

Hutton has coached multiple all-conference nominations throughout his coaching career. At William Woods this included the AMC Conference Newcomer of the year in Francis Okwuosah, and AMC Defensive Player of the year in Lavel Harris. At Iowa Wesleyan this included NAIA All-American Honorable Mention recipient Henry Shannon III.

He started his coaching career as a student assistant coach at Concordia College – Moorhead from 2017-2021. Where he double majored in Mathematics and Education.

On top of his coaching duties, Hutton also serves as the Academic Affairs Coordinator for Lake Region State College.
