Lake Region State College women’s basketball begins year two under head coach Ryan Clark. Last year, the Royals finished the season with a 20-12 record, and they will look to build off that success with five returners and ten incoming players. Kyla Fitzgerald and Brooke Kleinig will be two key returners, averaging 13.5 and 7.2 points per game respectively.
Coach Clark on this year’s roster “As a junior college, it is always beneficial to have sophomores back, for us to bring back five sophomores is very exciting. We also have two transfer sophomores that add to that experience. Our incoming freshman have been great. Overall, the group has been very positive, excited and hungry to get better each day” says Clark.
With official practice under way, Royals turn their focus to the upcoming weekend as they head to Ames, IA to compete at the ICCAC Juco Jam. “This will be a great opportunity for us to see where we are at, it is always fun when you get the chance to compete against someone else. I look forward to growing as a team this weekend” says Clark.
The Royals begin their season on November 3rd against Dawson Community College at the Buster Gillis MonDak Pre-Conference Tournament in New Town.
“I think we will be an enjoyable team to watch. We have a lot of depth, so we will do our best to play fast and put constant pressure on the opposition team in the full court. It’s very small steps right now, but I am very proud of the way our group is improving and enjoying playing with each other” Coach Clark.
