Marta Lopez & Dylan Longley to Represent LRSC at NJCAA All Star Game
The 13th Annual NJCAA All-Star game starts August 28th and will be running through the 31st in Atlanta, Georgia.
The 13th Annual NJCAA All-Star game starts August 28th and will be running through the 31st in Atlanta, Georgia.
Marta Lopez and Assistant Coach Dylan Longley will represent Lake Region State at the event.
Marta, a 5'7 guard from Spain averaged 8.2ppg 3.4apg 1.0apg 1.7spg for the Royals. She is the fifth Lady Royals basketball player to be featured at the event.
Coach Longley will be entering his second season on the bench for LRSC. He will be the Head Coach of one of the All Star teams at the event. He said, "I am excited to get the chance to coach a team here at the NJCAA All-Star game. It is an honor that I don't take lightly and I am looking forward to getting to work with all the players."
Athletic Director and Head Women's Coach Danny Mertens said this about the two, "What an exciting time for these two. Marta, is adding herself to the ever growing line of Lady Royals players that have competed in the event. It is an important week for her. It is an opportunity to compete against the best and be seen by a wide variety of coaches. Dylan is our first coach that has gotten the opportunity to coach at the event. It should be a fun time to work with some new players and a great opportunity to network. This is also a wonderful recognition for our program and for the school. I know these two will do a wonderful job of representing LRSC."
Players and coaches will arrive on Wednesday the 28th. Practice will begin on Thursday morning the 29th. There will be a Hall of Fame Banquet on Thursday evening. Games will then be played on Friday and Saturday. Marta's team will play at 3pm on Friday and either 10am or 12pm on Saturday. Games will be live streaming.
