Men's Basketball Trying to Make Late Season Push

The Lake Region State College men's basketball team is looking to make a late season push before the playoffs.

LRSC is coming off an 84-67 win over DCB last night in Bottineau. They are now 13-14 on the season and 5-6 in conference. The win over DCB put them in a 3 way tie for 3rd place and in the mix for a home playoff game. 

The Royals have been up and down in conference play so far and are looking for a more consistent finish to the regular season. They have been led by a trio of scorers. Alvin Payne is averaging 27 points a game over the last 3 games and 17.6ppg overall in conference. Bronson Chambers had 24pts in the overtime loss to WSC on Sunday and 28pts in the win over BSC on Jan 27th. He currently averages 15.6ppg. Poet Davis has returned from injury and picked up his scoring ways. Davis scored 33pts in the win over DCB last night and is averaging 17.6ppg since his return from injury. Ginuwine Tropnas is anchoring the Royals in the paint averaging 12.4ppg and 8.6rpg. He currently is one block away from tying the schools all time blocks record and two away from it being his own. 

Head Coach Jared Marshall had this to say about his team, "With 3 games to go, I am looking for us to really make a push to be the best team we can be before playoffs. We have shown stretches where we can be a dominant basketball team on both sides of the ball. As a team, we just have to be more consistent and do it for a full forty minutes a night. Which has been our issue so far in conference play. If we can become the best version of ourselves over the next two weeks, I think we have the capability to make a run in the playoffs."
