The Lake Region State College men's basketball program achieved their 1000th program victory over the weekend.
On Friday night, the Royals took on MN West CTC at their place and gained an 86-81 victory to claim the 1000th program victory. They built a 12 point lead heading into the half leading 38-26. MN West got hot in the 2nd half trying to claw their way back into it. However, the Royals were able to hold off the run and get the win.
The Royals were led by Poet Davis who had 26pts and 11rebs. Akok Ajou had 20pts to go along with his 8rebs and Bronson Chambers had 13pts.
On day two of the Minnesota road trip, the Royals took on Bay College at Hamline University in St. Paul, MN. It was a cold shooting first half for the Royals. LRSC would shoot 29% from the field 13% from 3 and 37% from the FT line leading to them being down 43-29 at half. They would try to mount a comeback in the 2nd half outscoring Bay 51-43 but it was not enough. Ron Lee exploded for 17pts off the bench, Remy Davis Warrington scored 12pts, Bronson Chambers had 10pts and Ginuwine Tropnas would score 14pts and add 9rebs.
Head Coach Jared Marshall had this to say about the weekend, "Overall, I am pretty happy with how we played. Our defense is still a work in progress but I thought we showed a lot more energy and effort on that end of the floor. We have been struggling with our shooting as of late and when that happens, we need to be able to rely on our defense to get us stops in critical moments. I just keep telling our guys that we are an up and down team right now and that's ok. That we don't need to be a finished product right now, that we want to be playing our best basketball come February. We will continue to work hard and I am looking forward to seeing us progress."
The Royals head to Casper this weekend for games against Casper CC Friday night and Western Wyoming on Saturday.
