Royals Men's Basketball Inks 4 in the 2023 Class.
Mitchell Leas 5’11 Guard from Rolla, ND
Leas has been a staple on the varsity team since 7th grade. He scored over 2000 career points and was named Region Athlete of the Year this past season. During his senior season he helped lead North Prairie to a 19-5 overall record while averaging 21ppg 4rpg 3apg. He shot over 90% from the FT line and over 50% from the field. He was recognized as a 2nd Team All State player in North Dakota.
Marshall had this to say about Leas, “I have been watching Mitchell play for a long time now. I am extremely excited to add him to our program. He has racked up a bunch of accolades throughout his career but what has always stood out to me is how unselfish of a player he is. He is always looking to make the right play, every time. Leas is a smart basketball player who sees the game very well. I am excited to see what he is going to bring to our program!”
Isaac Warhurst 6’2 Guard from Adelaide, AUS
Isaac comes to LRSC from a familiar place to most Royals fans, Adelaide, AUS. Joining a host of other players from Adelaide to populate the roster, Isaac is looking to make his imprint just like those before him. A four time South Australian State Team Representative, Warhurst brings a strong basketball background to LRSC. This past season playing for the Eastern Mavericks Warhurst averaged 15ppg 6rpg 6apg while shooting 48% from the field and 42% from behind the arc.
Marshall on Warhurst, “Isaac checks every box and then some when you are recruiting players from Australia. He has represented Australia at every level and has played in some big games. I am hopeful that experience will help make the transition that much easier for Isaac. He is a 2 way, versatile player who can play and guard multiple positions. Isaac is also going to bring some much needed shooting to our roster.”
Ginuwine Tropnas 6’9 Forward from Montreal CAN
After spending a year in prep school at the Dynastie Institute De Sport, Ginuwine is looking to come to the states and make an impact at LRSC. The long, athletic forward is going to bring much needed size and athleticism to the backcourt of LRSC. This past season he averaged 17ppg 11rpg 3bpg and 2spg, while playing on the Grind Session with Dynastie.
Marshall had this to say about Ginuwine, “I am excited to add Ginuwine to our program. He is long, athletic and versatile. He is a capable inside out player that can hurt teams in a variety of ways. Ginuwine is also a great rim protector. He has amazing timing and averaged 3 blocks a game this past season. He is definitely going to help sure up our defense while providing explosiveness on the offensive end.”
Cade Beaulieu 6’1 Guard from Red Lake, MN. Enrolled Member of the Red Lake Bad of Ojibwe
Cade played for Red Lake High School in Red Lake, MN where he helped lead the Warriors to a 16-11 record. During his senior season he averaged 15ppg 6rpg 5apg while shooting 50% form the field and 40% from 3.
Marshall on Beaulieu, “Cade has a lot of potential and I believe he can help us out in a variety of ways. He is a very talented shooter but what stood out to me was how hard he plays all the time. He anticipates very well defensively which leads to him getting steals and being in the right help spot. Cade plays with a lot of intensity on both sides of the ball and we are looking forward to him bringing that to the Royals program next season.”
These 4 will join returners Harrison Raynor, Noah Bonnick, Drew Bordeaux and Blessed Barhayiga for the 2023-2024 season. Coach Marshall said, “A lot is going to be expected of our incoming players and our returners. We are going to get back to being a tough team. A team that values the basketball and guards for 40 minutes. So far I like where this recruiting class is at and I am looking forward to adding more players that are going to help us get our program back to where it is expected to be.”
