On Sunday, March 7th, the Lake Region State College Royals traveled to Wahpeton, ND to take on the Wildcats of NDSCS.
The Royals turned in a stifling defensive effort versus the Wildcats holding them to 55 points on the day, 30 points below their season average. NDSCS tried to cut into the LRSC lead getting it to four points multiple times in the second half but the Royals always had an answer. Those answers came in the form of a Beijan Newbern, 15pts & 7rebs, or Trace Evans Bucket, 16pts & 5rebs. Ben Hoverson hit two timely threes in the second half as well to give him 10pts on the day.
The final score LRSC 67 NDSCS 55.
Head Coach Jared Marshall said afterwards, "I am so proud of this team. I challenged them to go out there and earn the win because it wasn't going to be given to them and they did. This was a great win for our guys and hopefully, we can keep this one going. We had been right there in a lot of big games, it felt good to get on the other side of it versus NDSCS."
The Royals are now 9-7 on the season and will travel to Williston, ND on Wednesday to take on the Tetons of Williston State.
