After an opening season win over Williston State the Royals basketball team has pushed their record to 3-1.
Suffering their sole loss on the road, NDSC beat LRSC 101-72 on January 22nd. The Wildcats would use 17 3's and shoot over 50% from the field to down the Royals. LRSC was paced by 13pts off the bench from Trace Evans, Ben Hoverson would chip in 11pts and Brody Kriesel 10pts.
Next up was Jamestown JV on January 24th, that proved to be a nail biter. Trailing for almost the whole game, the Royals would take the lead for the first time with under four minutes to go and never give it back. The final 63-60 LRSC. Carson Henningsgard would lead LRSC with 15pts 4reb 3ast & Beijan Newbern would put up 11pts 9rebs 3ast.
Finally, the Royals would hit the road for a MonDak clash against Dakota College at Bottineau. The Royals would take care of business and come home with the 86-71 win. Carson Henningsgard would score 22pts for LRSC and Trace Evans 19pts in the win.
Head Coach Jared Marshall had this to say, "I am happy with where we are at right now. Some times we don't make it look easy but we have certainly found a way to get the job done. We have had different guys step up every night and contribute in their own ways. We just need to continue to improve each day."
The Royals have a tough home matchup on Wednesday, January 27th against Dawson CC.
