Royals Baseball wrapped up MonDak play this past Saturday finishing the regular season 16-31 and 8-16 in conference play. With new changes taking place this season, there will be no MonDak baseball tournament this year. A best-of-3 series will determine the three teams to advance onto the regional tournament next week. The top three seeds from the regular season will host a playoff series vs the respective lower seed (1v6, 2v5, 3v4). The Royals will be the 5th seed and travel to 2nd seed Bismarck State this weekend. Both games 1 and 2 will be played on Saturday, May 6th. Game 3 (if needed) will take place on Sunday, May 7th. Game 1 is scheduled for a 1:00pm start in Bismarck, ND at Haaland Field.
The Royals are led at the plate by sophomore Riley Craw who finished the regular season hitting .369 with 8 doubles, 5 triples, 6 home runs, and 27 RBI's. Eli Cloninger ended with a .305 average with 3 doubles, 3 triples, and 16 RBI's. Ronald Nelson has come on strong as of late hitting .319 during conference play. This weekend on the mound the Royals will lean on starters Riley Craw and Tyler Donohue along with sophomore relievers Trent Greek and Dake DeJean.
"Hitting has been streaky for us at times this year, but everyone in our lineup has shown moments and streaks of great success at the plate. Our pitching staff has done a great job giving us chances to win this season. If we can have all the bats show up together, be solid defensively, and limit walks on the mound will be in a great position to win." – Coach Lund.
