The Lake Region State College Royals baseball team had 5 games on the road this past week. They would travel to Dickinson on April 17th & 18th to take on Dickinson State's JV Team. Then yesterday, they headed to Bismarck for a MonDak clash against the Mystics on Bismarck State.

Dickinson State Runs Away With Early Lead In Victory
LRSC Royals watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 13-6 loss to Dickinson State on Saturday. Dickinson State jumped out to an early lead in the 2nd, with a home run, a sacrifice fly and an error, scoring 5 runs. James Sampson-Keck drove in four runners in the loss. Sampson-Keck drove in runs on a home run in the first, a home run in the third, and a triple in the seventh. Carson Heroux started the game for LRSC Royals. Heroux lasted two innings, allowing four hits and six runs. Trevor DeCoteau and Daniel Mercandelli entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two innings and two innings respectively. LRSC Royals tallied two home run on the day. Sampson-Keck put one out in the first and third innings. LRSC Royals tallied nine hits on the day led by James Sampson-Keck who had 3.
Lake Region State College Royals Loses Lead Early in Defeat
Another big 2nd inning by Dickinson State would be the difference in the game. DSU would drive in 5 runs. The only run scored by the Royals was in the first. Ryan Veneman took the loss for LRSC Royals. Veneman went three innings, allowing six runs on six hits, striking out seven and walking one. Jonathan Mendez, Jaret Lupton, Payton Davisson, and Trevor DeCoteau all had one hit to lead LRSC Royals. They would fall 6-1.
Lake Region State College Royals Grabs Lead In Seventh Inning To Defeat Dickinson State
LRSC Royals stole the lead late and defeated Dickinson State 13-9 on Saturday. The game was tied at nine with LRSC Royals batting in the top of the seventh when Ryan Veneman homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring four runs. Veneman led LRSC Royals to victory by driving in six runs. Veneman went 2-for-5 at the plate. Veneman drove in runs on a home run in the first and a grand slam in the seventh.
In the first inning, LRSC Royals got their offense started when Veneman homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs. Dickinson State would take the lead back tallying four runs in the third inning. Brock Degooyer was credited with the victory for LRSC Royals. The righty lasted two innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while walking zero. Austin McClure threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen. Degooyer recorded the last six outs to earn the save for LRSC. Patrick Tangen started the game for LRSC Royals. He surrendered seven runs on six hits over two innings, striking out four. LRSC Royals hit two home run on the day. Veneman had a them both in the first and seventh innings. The Royals totaled 14 hits on the game. Andrachick, Robert Nickell, James Sampson-Keck, and Veneman all had multiple hits for LRSC. Andrachick went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead LRSC Royals.

Lake Region State College Royals Takes A Tough Blow From Bismarck State
LRSC Royals couldn't keep up with Bismarck State and fell 9-3 on Wednesday. Bismarck State fired up the offense in the first inning. Leopurdt homered on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs. Bismarck State took the lead for good with one run in the fourth inning. In the fourth Duchscherer doubled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run. Bismarck State scored three runs in the sixth inning. The big inning for Bismarck State came thanks to a home run by Leopurdt and a double by Dew. Anderson was credited with the victory for Bismarck State. Anderson lasted four innings, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out three. Patrick Tangen took the loss for LRSC Royals. The righty surrendered six runs on six hits over five innings, striking out three. Jaret Lupton, Nick Thompson, Austyn Andrachick, Payton Davisson, and James Sampson-Keck each collected one hit to lead LRSC Royals.
Lake Region State College Royals Claims Lead In Fifth Inning To Defeat Bismarck State
LRSC Royals snagged a late lead and defeated Bismarck State 5-4 on Wednesday. The game was tied at three with LRSC Royals batting in the top of the fifth when Payton Davisson homered on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs. After LRSC Royals scored one run in the top of the fourth, Bismarck State answered with one of their own. LRSC Royals scored when Sand induced James Sampson-Keck to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored. Austin McClure got the win for LRSC Royals. McClure lasted six innings, allowing seven hits and four runs while striking out six and walking one. Brock Degooyer threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Degooyer recorded the last three outs to earn the save for LRSC Royals. Sand took the loss for Bismarck State. Sand allowed eight hits and five runs over five innings, striking out three and walking zero. LRSC Royals launched one home run on the day. Davisson had a long ball in the fifth inning. LRSC Royals tallied ten hits. Davisson, Adrian Alcantar, Nick Thompson, and Jaret Lupton each had multiple hits for LRSC Royals. Lupton, Thompson, Alcantar, and Davisson each collected two hits to lead LRSC Royals.
Overall, LRSC is 12-14 on the season and 7-7 in the MonDak with home games coming up this weekend against Miles CC. Saturday April 24th at 1pm & 3pm, Sunday April 25th at 11am & 1pm. Both games will be played at Legion Field in Roosevelt park.
