Austin Kempel from Devils Lake North Dakota and recent 2024 Devils Lake High School graduate will be entering his first-year coaching. He found his love for coaching from relative Dean Blais. Dean, former head coach of the University of North Dakota (1994-2004) and the University of Nebraska-Omaha (2009-2017) with such credentials Austin admired coach Blais. Austin played three years of varsity for the Firebirds during high school and has previous experience volunteer coaching for the local youth teams in Devils Lake. In High school, Austin was a versatile player with experience playing every position. His knowledge and ability to excel at every position will majorly contribute to the Lake Region State Women’s hockey team.
