Royals Women's Hockey Inaugural Home Opener
Friday night was a special night for Royals Women's hockey as they got to host NDSU in their first ever game in program history and on home ice. The community had a great showing bringing in over 500 plus fans.
The 1st period was back and fourth action but both teams did not find the back of the net as both goaltenders played strong. LRSC outshot NDSU 13 to 8.
Five minutes into the 2nd period forward Ashton Fogelman found the back of the net, scoring the first goal in LRSC Women's hockey history! The goal was assisted by Sophomore Vivianna Kraft and freshmen Siearra Raatz. The lone goal by Fogelman maintained the lead for the rest of the period. LRSC came out blazing in the 3rd period when freshmen Julia Lone scored 58 seconds into the period from the assist Tatum Provencher. NDSU responded late in 3rd but Sierra Raatz seeled the deal by scoring on the NDSU empty net with 1:20 left in the game!
Freshmen goaltender Anika Moroz stopped 33 of 34 total shots.
