McKenna will be joining the LRSC Women’s Hockey program coming the 2023-2024 school year. McKenna is from Hamiota, Manitoba. McKenna has been playing hockey for ten years on a variety of teams including her hometown team, the Hamiota Huskies, extended season teams, the AAA Yellowhead Chiefs, and the Birtle Bruiskies. The past two years of playing for the Bruiskies, McKenna has played in and earned two provincial championships and was a part of leading her team to a league championship title this year. In McKenna’s last 11 games played as a Bruiskies, she finished off with 7 shut outs and 0.72 goals against average. “I will contribute dedication, hard work, and the ability for my team to rely on me between the pipes. I have found success being a student athlete, finishing high school with an overall average of 95.2%, and I hope to be just as successful in the years to come. I can’t wait to be a part of the first ever women’s hockey team at LRSC and see where the year takes us” McKenna stated.
“We are thrilled to have her and are confident in her abilities. Goaltending is an important position in the game of hockey and we are excited to have landed a well rounded tender! Mckenna is going to help our already solid roster and will allow us to be a bit more aggressive on offense” Kraft stated. Welcome to Lake Region Mckenna!
