Royals Downed by Jacks in First Meeting
The Men's Hockey team played a home and home weekend with the DCB Lumberjacks. The Royals and Lumberjacks faced off in Devils Lake on October 19th.
The Jacks came out firing on all cylinders when they found the back of the net early at the one minute mark of the first period. The Royals applied pressure but Lumberjacks goaltender Rylan Labrie stood tall stopping all 15 shots in the 1st period.
The Jacks kept the theme going by scoring a minute and 46 seconds into the 2nd period taking a 2-0 lead. The 2nd period feature an onslaught of penalties from both teams but neither could capitalize on their powerplays until the Jacks scored their third goal of the game at the 11 minute mark of the 2nd period. The Jacks sealed the deal early in the 3rd with their fourth goal of the game, putting the Royals down and out and Dakota College coming out on top 4-0.
Freshmen goaltender Logan Hendrickson finished the game with 54 total saves.
Saturday afternoon the Royals made the trip to Bottineau to face off with DCB. The Royals jumped out to an early two goal lead with goals coming from Freshmen forward Brody Steinmetz and Freshmen forward Brady Wicklund. The lead did not last long as the Jacks tied the game midway through the 1st period and eventually taking a 4-2 lead to end the period.
The Royals and Jacks skated to a fairly even period, even with the Jacks finding the back of the net one time in the 2nd period. The 3rd period did not fair well for the Royals as the Jacks were able to put up five goals in the 3rd period seeling the deal and finishing the game 10-2 in favor of DCB.
Freshmen goaltender Myles Ganske finished the game with 48 total saves.
Your Royals are back in action on November 3rd, when they host Williston State College in Devils Lake at 8:00 pm.
