Royals Men's Inaugural Home Opener
Friday, October 13th was a night to remember for not only LRSC Hockey, but for LRSC Athletics.
LRSC Men's hockey hosted NDSU to home ice at the Burdick Arena in Devils Lake. With a crowd of around 600 people in attendance the Royals started off hot netting two goals in the first 3 minutes. One minute and 36 seconds later Matthew Besse boosted the Royals to a quick 2-0 lead scoring an unassisted goal. NDSU responded and tied it up late in the period.
Freshmen goaltender Logan Hendrickson did well between the pipes for the Royals helping them keep the game knotted at 2 during the 2nd period. The 3rd period was non stop action both ways as teams battled for the lead. Parker Swanson struck at the 5 minute mark for the Royals giving them a 3-2 lead then followed by Kaleb Hodny finding the back of the net 3 minutes later. NDSU responded quickly with two of their own to knot the game at 4-4. NDSU found the game winning goal at the 7 minute mark in the 3rd to take the win 5-4 over the Royals.
