Devils Lake Local Sophia Hassett Commits to Royals for 2025-26
Lake Region State College Women's Hockey is proud to announce the commitment of local forward Sophia Hassett for the 2025-2026 season. A Devils Lake local, Hassett has been a part of the area's hockey community since her PeeWee days with the Devils Lake Blue Line Club. She's played varsity hockey with the Firebirds since eighth grade and helped the Firebird team to a 6th-place finish at the 2024 North Dakota State High School Hockey Tournament.
"Having a hometown player like Sophia commit to our program is really special," said Head Coach Sawyer Diseth. "She's been part of the Devils Lake hockey community for years, and you can see how much pride she takes in where she's from. She works hard and enjoys playing a physical style of hockey. Defensive minded, but gritty at hunting pucks in the corner and a strong presence in front of the net."
Hassett echoed that excitement, saying, "I'm really excited to continue playing hockey in my hometown and represent Lake Region State College. Some of my best memories are from growing up and playing hockey with my best friends and teammates. Now I get to keep playing the game I love at the next level with the support of my family and community. Playing alongside my best friend and longtime teammate Delaney Wagner."
