Brady Wicklund Ranked 5th in Points for ACHA Division II
Lake Region State College forward and assistant captain Brady Wicklund has emerged as one of the top offensive players in ACHA Division II, finishing the 2024 season ranked fifth in points across the entire league. Wicklund's exceptional performance this season has solidified his place among the elite players in collegiate hockey.
Wicklund, a native of International Falls, Minnesota, had a record-breaking year for Lake Region State, racking up 61 points in just 35 games. His 29 goals and 32 assists were instrumental in the Royals' success, with his seven game-winning goals leading all of ACHA Division I and II. His ability to deliver in clutch moments helped his team thrive throughout the season.
"It's been incredible watching Brady grow as both a player and a leader over the course of his time here at Lake Region," said Lake Region State College head coach Brady Stein. "To finish 5th in points in all of ACHA Division II is an amazing accomplishment and a testament to his dedication, skill, and determination."
This season, Wicklund not only broke the school's single-season points record with 61, but he also set the bar for future generations of Lake Region State players.
Before joining Lake Region State College, Wicklund honed his skills at International Falls High School, where he played three years of high school hockey. From there, he spent two years playing junior hockey for the Fort Frances Lakers in the Superior International Junior Hockey League (SIJHL), further refining his game and preparing for the rigors of college hockey.
"Wicklund is a competitor through and through, and he brings that mentality every time he steps on the ice," said Stein. "His leadership, paired with his offensive talent, has been a driving force for our team all year. His 5th-place finish in ACHA points is a remarkable achievement, and we're excited to see what he has still yet to accomplish as his college hockey career progresses."
In addition to his on-ice success, Wicklund's role as an assistant captain has made him an invaluable leader for the Royals. His work ethic and commitment to his teammates have set a strong example for the rest of the team.
"Wicks" place in Lake Region State College hockey lore is secure. With his scoring prowess and leadership, the Royals are eager to see what the future holds for their star forward.
