The Lake Region State College Women's Hockey team is making waves in the ACHA, thanks to standout performances by three of its key sophomores: Veronica Asquith, Julia Lone, and Ella Holkesvig.
Veronica Asquith, wearing #22, is leading the ACHA in both overall points and goals. With an impressive 59 points and 40 goals, Veronica has established herself as one of the top players in the league. Raised in Gimli, Manitoba, Veronica comes from a close-knit family of five, including her mother, Nan, and three younger siblings. Off the ice, she excels in softball and soccer. She also has recently picked up golf and curling as hobbies.
When asked about her personal goals, Veronica shared, "Honestly, I'm just really focused on becoming a better version of myself and trying to learn as much as I can—in hockey and in life." Her future ambitions include becoming a police officer after graduation. Beyond sports, Veronica enjoys road trips, driving, and exploring new places, while also making time for her love of music and concerts.
Julia Lone, #17, has also been a key contributor to the team, recently earning a spot among the top 20 point scorers in the ACHA with 24 points (12 goals and 12 assists). Hailing from Boissevain, Manitoba, Julia has been playing hockey since the age of five and has developed a passion for a variety of sports, including softball, volleyball, and basketball. She comes from a family of four, with her older brother Ty playing for the Sioux Lookout Bombers of the SIJHL.
In addition to her athletic talents, Julia is known for her baking skills, often sharing her creations with teammates. As a defenseman, she has proven to be a vital part of the team's success.
