Lake Region State College Royals Men's Hockey Team Finds Success in New Year
The Lake Region State College Royals Men's Hockey Team has come out strong in the second half of the season, achieving an impressive 6-2 record after returning from the holiday break. After a competitive start to the semester, the team is looking to build momentum and continue their success on the ice.
Brett Lesage, a key player for the Royals wearing jersey #22, shared his insights on the team's progress and their recent performances. "We've had a solid start to the second semester," Lesage said, "Despite a couple of tough losses to Montana State University, we've bounced back really well, showing resilience and teamwork in our victories."
The men's team kicked off their second semester with back-to-back close wins on the road against Williston, coming out on top with scores of 3-2 and 5-4. However, their toughest challenge came shortly after, facing the number one ranked team, Montana State University. The Royals fought hard but were handed two tough defeats, losing 7-1 and 5-1.
"We knew the games against Montana State would be a tough test," Lesage added, "But it showed us areas where we needed to improve, and we've been focusing on those things in practice."
After the losses, the Royals returned home for a series against Waldorf University. The team responded with great performances, taking home decisive victories with scores of 8-2 and 3-2. The confidence from these wins carried over into last weekend's games against North Dakota State University, where the Royals completed a sweep with a 5-4 and 7-4 victory.
Currently sitting at a 13-14 record, the men's team has shown resilience and growth throughout the season. Their performance is a testament to their hard work and determination, as they continue to push forward with the goal of making a strong playoff push.
Lesage reflected on the team's outlook: "We're in a good spot right now, but we know there's still work to do. We've got a lot of talent, and as long as we continue to play hard and stay focused, I'm confident we can finish strong."
The Royals are poised to keep building on this momentum as the season progresses. With a talented roster and strong team chemistry, they are a force to be reckoned with in the second half of the season.
