They always say there is no place like home but if you ask the Royals Volleyball team after this weekend they might just be as comfortable on the road as they are at home.

They always say there is no place like home but if you ask the Royals Volleyball team after this weekend they might just be as comfortable on the road as they are at home. This past weekend they embarked on a three day, three game, two state road trip that would test them from start to finish.
First up was a trip to Miles City, MT to take on the Pioneers of Miles CC. The first two sets of the match found the Royals trailing late but Coach Greywater would take a timeout to make adjustments. Those adjustments would pay off winning Set 1 25-22 and Set 2 27-25. The third set was all too familiar to the first two sets, the Royals would trail the Pioneers. The difference this time was that they were unable to make the full comeback and lost 25-22 in Set 3. The fourth set ended up being the final set. The Royals came out with a no nonsense attitude and this time instead of playing from behind they led the whole set from start to finish. Taking Set 4 25-17 to win the match 3-1.
The second day had the Royals matched up against Dawson CC Bucs in Glendive, MT. It was another sluggish start from the ladies, falling behind early in the first two sets again. However, like before they would find a way to overcome and win Set 1 25-23 and Set 2 25-20. During the third and fourth set not much went the Royals way, as the DCC Bucs would keep control of both, winning by the score of 25-20. It would come down to the fifth and final set to decide it all. In an all out back and forth set that went the distance, an ace by the Royals would seal the match. LRSC would win 15-13 and take the match 3-2.
On day three of the road trip any coach would expect their team to be sluggish. That was not the case for these Lady Royals. Despite playing a four set match and a five set match the previous two days they just shrugged those off heading into the match with Williston State in Williston, ND. LRSC would lead from start to finish in Set 1 25-17. During set two the Tetons would take their first and only lead of the day late in the second set at 18-17. It would be short lived as the Royals would win 25-23 in the second set. The third set was all Lake Region, they came out and dominated from start to finish winning 25-19 and taking the match 3-0.
With those wins the Lady Royals Volleyball team would move to 14-8 on the season and 5-2 in the conference with three straight MonDak Wins. LRSC is now in sole possesion of third place in the MonDak. Head Coach Brigitte Greywater would say this about the weekend, "This was a grueling road trip that tested us. I was unbelievably happy with how we responded all weekend, especially day three when we had two tough ones before. We came out and swept them, controlling the match from start to finish. We had a lot of players do some great things but Jexley Porrata and Elizabeth Lucy really sured up that middle for us all weekend. They were a big difference."
Volleyball will be back in action Wednesday night October 3rd, 7pm at the sportscenter against Trinity Bible College. Tailgate will be sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. J's restaurant.
