Both the Lake Region State College men's and women's basketball teams improved to 7-1 after beating Concordia JV on Tuesday in Moorhead, Minn.
The Lady Royals won 80-63. Kennedy Henningsgard led LRSC in points with 21 and Cassidy Nelson added 14.
The men shook off a slow start to beat the Cobbers 84-82 in another close win.
"We were tested on the road tonight and came out on top," Royals head coach Jared Marshall said. "True team win, we had a lot of guys contribute tonight in a lot of different ways. The win wasn't pretty but we keep finding ways to get the job done and get wins. I think that says a lot about our team and its toughness."
The Royals had five players in double-digit points, led by AJ Nywesh's 19.
Noah Bosh and Tom Kubank both contributed 15 points, Dawson Peterson had 13 and Ryan Clark added 10.
The Royals also got some good minutes from their bench.
"I wasn't happy with how we started the game and I went to the bench in the second half down four to try and give us a spark and they did just that," Marshall said.
The Royal women and men return home for some action this weekend.
The Lady Royals play Northern State JV at 3 p.m. Saturday. They'll play again Sunday in an exhibition at 1 p.m.
The men host Gillette College at 5 p.m. Saturday and Jamestown JV at 3 p.m. Sunday.
