The Royals traveled to Minot this past weekend for their opening games. The Royals would play four games in two days inside the Minot State University bubble. The weekend started with the Royals picking up a win before dropping the next three.
Summary of each game:
Game 1 vs Dakota College at Bottineau - Won 6-5 in the bottom of the 7th from a game winning single by Whitney Rozdeba that scored Ella Neider. In the game, Madison Dauphinais pitched the complete game, giving up 5 runs, 3 of them earned, off 9 hits and had 8 strikeouts. Ella Neider, Darian Bender, Whitney Rozdeba, and Morgan Cervantes each had 2 hits.
Game 2 vs Miles Community College - lost 5-14. The Royals scored 3 runs in the top of the first but Miles scored 7 in the bottom half of the first. In the 3rd, the Royals scored 2 but had chances to score more but 2 runners were thrown out on base. Miles then again scored 7 in the bottom of the 4th for the victory. The Royals had 4 errors in the game. Darian Bender and Madison Dauphinais pitched in the game. Bender taking the loss.
Game 3 vs NDSCS - lost 1-12. The Royals had 6 errors in the game, 4 in the 2nd inning. For the game the Royals were held to just 2 hits and had 9 strikeouts.
Game 4 vs Dawson Community College - lost 2-8 in 5 innings due to time limits. The Royals had 4 hits on the game, a triple by Whitney Rozdeba, and singles from Madison Dauphinais, Morgan Cervantes, and Kassidy Hart.
Next action is February 24 & 25 in Jamestown against University of Jamestown JV, Dakota College at Bottineau, Bismarck State, and NDSCS.
