Emma Gary Named Mon-Dak Conference MVP, Hanna Gary and Courtney Fines Given Honors
The 2016 Mon-Dak Conference Softball All-Conference selections were announced today.
The 2016 Mon-Dak Conference Softball All-Conference selections were announced today. There were 3 Lake Region State College players on the list: Emma Gary (selected as the Most Valuable Player), Hanna Gary, and Courtney Fines.
Emma Gary is a freshman outfielder from Peoria, AZ. For the year, Emma had a batting average of .432 with 54 hits, 7 doubles, 3 triples, and 13 homeruns. She was walked 13 times and had 12 hit by pitches. Her on base percentage was .507 and had a slugging percentage of .848. In conference play, Emma had a .492 batting average and a slugging percentage of 1.127 with 11 homeruns. She was selected as the Mon-Dak player of the week for April 18-24th and was also the National NJCAA Division II Player of the Week during that same time. Coach Kory Boehmer stated that "this is a great honor not only for Emma but for Lake Region. It really says a lot about the respect and admiration the conference teams have for us. Emma is a very hard worker and is an all-around great young lady. She is always looking to help out whenever she can. This is a well-deserved award." She was also selected to the All-Region 13 team earlier this week.
Hanna Gary is a freshman outfielder from Peoria, AZ. Hanna had a batting average of .408 with 62 hits, 17 doubles, 1 triple, 9 homeruns, 52 RBI's, and only 5 strikeouts. Her slugging percentage was .711 and had an on base percentage of .430. She was also selected to the All-Region 13 team earlier this week. Coach Boehmer noted how well Hanna hit this year and with only 5 strikeouts in 152 at bats, showed how great of a hitter she is.
Courtney Fines is a sophomore infielder from Brandon, Manitoba. She is a second year all-conference selection hitting .348 for the year. She had 49 hits, 8 doubles, and 5 homeruns in 141 at bats. Coach Boehmer said "Courtney is our team leader both on the field and off. She helps to keep our team focused. She will be missed and it will be tough to fill her spot."
