Royals Rounding Out Roster with Additional Signings
Head Coach Jared Marshall is pleased to announce these players have joined the Royals for the 2023-2024 season.
Mat Mudingay 6'1 Guard from Mandan, ND
Mat starred in his role at Mandan High School where he helped lead the Braves to a 16-8 season. He was a do it all player that provided infectious energy on both ends of the floor. During his senior season he averaged 9.7ppg 5.6rpg 3.0apg while shooting 53% from the field and 42% from 3. Mudingay will go down in the Braves record book by tying the record for charges taken in a season with 22.
Coach Marshall on Mat, "Mat is someone I am very high on. He is a player that effects the game in so many more ways than just scoring. His effort, his intensity, and his defense stand out every time I watch him play. Mat's energy in infectious and raises the level of play of everyone around him. That is going to help us get our defense back to the level it needs to be on for this coming season."
Alex Jones 6'2 Guard from Minnetonka, MN
Alex comes to LRSC from Minnetonka High School where he helped lead the Skippers to a State Tournament appearance and a 23-8 overall record. Jones was a do it all guard for Minnetonka that averaged 8.9ppg 6.0rpg 1.0apg 1.0spg. Alex also took 23 charges this past season.
Coach Marshall had this to say about Alex, "I am excited to add a proven winner from a successful program in Minnetonka to our team. Alex stood out to me by his willingness to do anything and everything to help his team win. He is an unselfish player that is going to help us in a variety of ways. I like how hard he plays and well he competes."
Hyden Martin 6'6 Forward from Wanblee, SD
Hyden joins the 2023 recruiting class after a successful career at Crazy Horse High School. This past season he averaged 19.3ppg & 9.0rpg while helping his team to 17 wins and a trip to the South Dakota State Tournament where they lost to eventual champions De Smet.
Coach Marshall on Hyden, "Hyden is going to bring skill & size to our program. He has the ability to play inside and out, stretching the floor with his 3 point shooting ability. I like his toughness and how well he rebounds."
Axel Carpio 6'1 Guard from Anchorage, AK
Axel comes to LRSC after helping lead East Anchorage to a 24-5 overall record that concluded with a 4A Alaska State Championship. After his senior season he was named to the AABC Senior All-Star Game.
Coach Marshall on Axel, "Axel joins the Royals from a well-respected high school in East Anchorage, where they won 2 of the last 3 state championships and finished as runner ups his junior year. He is a proven winner and a knockdown shooter. Axel has the ability to get hot from behind the arc. Carpio is also an active defender who gets after people on that end of the floor."
