On Thursday January 17th, the Royals traveled to Montana to take on the Miles Pioneers in a MonDak Conference game.
It was a slow start on offense for the Royals as they struggled to get on the board early. They did not let that deter them and continued to guard at a high level. Finally, around the mid point of the first half the Royals were able to find the bottom of the net. Led by Jordan Lynn's relentless attack at the hoop and Zac Olson's ability to get to the free throw line, LRSC was able to put together a run for the win. The final Royals 79 Pioneers 67. Jordan Lynn scored 23pts 8rebs and Zac Olson had 21pts 9rebs.
LRSC held Miles to 37% from the field and 24% from behind the arc.
Head Coach Jared Marshall said after the game, "We got off to a bit of a slow start offensively. Most times, we let that affect our defensive play but not tonight. I told them during a timeout the shots were going to start falling, we just needed to keep getting stops. We did and the offense started to go. We won the rebounding battle and made more free throws then they attempted. Always a recipe for success. We need to do a better job making our free throws when given the opportunity."
The Royals are now 15-5 (3-0) with a home game coming up Sunday January, 20th vs. BSC 3pm.
