Royals Long Road Trip Brings Positives
The LRSC Men's Hockey team had a long road trip to Bozeman, Montana with a stop in Crosby, ND on the way.
The Royals played in their 1st Crosby Cup facing off with Williston State College. It was an action-packed game with both teams playing great hockey. The Royals fell behind mid-way through the 1st off a powerplay. The Tetons managed to hang on to the lead after 1. The Royals found the back of the net late in the 2nd period and added to their lead quickly making it 3-1. Williston managed to put one past Freshmen Goaltender Logan Hendrickson late in the 2nd making it 3-2 after 2. The Tetons managed to score two in the 3rd to regain the lead, but the Royals did not quit and managed to tie the game with less than a minute remaining. The Tetons managed to find one in the extra period, ending an exciting hockey game.
"We played with a lot of grit. I am extremely proud of our guys and their will to not quit. They showed they care and are willing to take the extra steps to give themselves a chance to win night in and night out." Kraft shared.
The Royals would travel to Bozeman, with the Royals taking on the #1 seed in the West Region, Montana State University. The Royals dropped both games, however there were several positives Coach Kraft took from the games. "We knew they are one of the best teams in the country but that did not intimidate us. We showed that we can skate with this caliber of teams even if the score board did not show that. We competed and learned a lot from our trip. There are a ton of positives that came out of the weekend and showed us we are trending in the right direction. We are continuing to grow and mature. Our work ethic shows constantly and that is all I can ask for from a first-year program. I am proud of our guys, and I am excited to see what we do in our last few games of the semester and in the 2nd semester."
Your Royals are in action as they close out the first semester on the road when they face off with the University of Jamestown D2 team this Friday (12/8) and Saturday (12/9) both games being played at 7:00 pm.
