Schlenk wins BSC Invitational, LRSC golfers place well

Kelsey Schlenk didn't waste much time picking up where she left off last season. The Lake Region State College sophomore golfer won the Bismarck State College Mystic Golf Invitational held Sunday and Monday.
Schlenk shot an 88, then an 85 Monday to win by six strokes over second-place Nicole Heinitz of Valley City State.
"Kelsey played really well for the first tournament of the year," LRSC golf coach Shane Hersch said. "She played with a lot of confidence and was able to play well through the elements, whether that was the heat yesterday or the wind today. Proud of the way she and the whole team competed. I'm excited for the rest of the season with this group."
Krista Blotske also placed in the top 10 of 17 women golfers, scoring 106 and 104.
The Royal men's team fielded a full team and took seventh place in the 7-team tournament with 684 total points.
Eric Gullocks and Casey Julson finished in the top 20 in the field of 37 golfers.
Gullocks placed 17th with a two round score of 160. Julson wasn't far behind, finishing 19th with three other golfers with a score of 161.
Jamestown Orange won the men's invitational with a 604
