On Tuesday October 15th, the Lake Region State College Royals Volleyball team traveled to Williston, ND to take on the Williston State College Tetons.
In a match that went the distance the first time around this one would prove to be no different. The match between the two MonDak Conference foes started off with a Royals win 25-20 in set one. Set two would go to the Tetons in a tighly contested 23-25 win. The third set would need extra volleyball to decide the victor as LRSC would take the final two points after the match was knotted at 25. In the fourth set the back and forth nature of the match would continue as Williston would take it 24-26 and force a fifth and final set. Fifteen points was not enough as this set too would prove to need more time to be decided. However, just like the first time it was Lake Region who would come out on top winning the final two points 17-15 and the match 3-2.
Head Coach Brigitte Greywater said, "This match was filled with grit, will, effort and leadership from our girls. We did it, we went on the road and pulled out a huge conference win! I am very proud of this team. We had faith, stuck to the gameplan when things got tough and pulled ourselves through adversity to get the win."
With the win the Royals move to 8-17 (3-6) and have MonDak Conference opponent Dakota College at Bottineau coming to the sportscenter. Game will begin at 7pm on Wednesday the 16th.
