Set two, saw a re-focused and re-juvenated team as they came out and took control of the set right away for a 25-17 win. During the third set the momentum continued to stay with LRSC as they came out playing one of their best sets of the weekend, winning 25-11. The Comets tried to make a run to tie it up in the fourth set but the Lady Royals were not going to let that happen, they pulled out a 25-22 win. The final, LRSC Volleyball took the sets 3-1 for the victory.
Miles City was the second match of day one for Lake Region State. After taking game one the Lady Royals looked to contine their winning ways and they did just that against the Pioneers. Set one, saw a back and forth early but a late run by LRSC gave them the set 25-19. Set two was more of the same, Miles would keep it close early but the well conditioned Lady Royals would outlast their early runs to make an important late one of their own to win 25-18. Day two, had the LRSC squared off against two familiar foes in Dakota College at Bottineau and Bismarck State College.
The match against Dakota College at Bottineau was a hard fought one. Each set was well played by both sides. Set one was close, with the Lady Royals edging out the Lady Jacks at the end 25-23. During the middle of the second set, LRSC would make a run to give them some breathing room. It proved to be the difference as they would take the set 25-19. Despite being down 2-0, DCB was not ready to throw in the towel just yet but the Lady Royals were up to the challenge. They earned a hard fought 25-23 set win to take the match 3-0.
For the final match of the weekend, LRSC would take on Bismarck State College. Set one, saw the Lady Royals Volleyball team take down the Mystics 25-23. During the fourth set, a determined Lady Royals team tried to make a push to close the gap and keep the match alive but they came up just short. The final in the fourth set, 18-25, with Bismarck State taking the match 3-1.
Head Coach Brigitte Greywater had this to say about the weekend, "I was very happy with our play overall this weekend. We bounced back after a tough home opener, not letting that distract us. Our composure all weekend is what impressed me. We were not too high or too low no matter what was happening, we just continued to make plays."
Freshman Rachel Hill was a standout all weekend as she is currently averaging 7.33 assists per set. She continued to put the hitters in a position to score points all weekend for the Lady Royals.
LRSC will not have to wait too long to try and get revenge on BSC. They will play them at home on Wednesday night, 7pm at the sportscenter. Tailgate will be sponsored by the Pizza Ranch.
