Volleyball finishes 2-2 at the Sleep Inn Slamfest

The Lake Region State College Royals Volleyball team finished their weekend 2-2 at the Sleep Inn Slamfest.

Day 1

Game 1 matched up LRSC versus Providence from Manitoba. Providence ended up winning the match three sets to one. The Royals battled tough throughout the match and had their best showing in the second match when they won the set 25-16.

Game 2 for LRSC matched them up against Northeast Hawks out of Norfolk, NE. Northeast came into the tournament as the #25 ranked team in the nation and played like it throughout the match. Despite being a little overwhelmed in the first set which Northeast took 25-12, the Royals played better in the final two sets losing 25-18 and 25-17. The Hawks won the match three sets to zero.

Day 2

The second day of the Sleep Inn Slamfest saw a determined Royals team that wanted to finish out their home stand the right way.

Game 1 had Lake Region State Matched up against Assiniboine out of Manitoba. It was a back and forth match played between both squads that went the distance. The Royals took the first set and the third while Assiniboine took the second and the fourth. During the fifth set the Royals jumped out to an early lead and they never looked back. They finished off the fifth set 15-8 to win the match three sets to two.

Game 2 the Royals were matched up against Trinity Bible College out of Ellendale, SD. LRSC came out and took care of business right away. They swept Trinity bible three sets to zero to win the match.

These were the final two home games for the sophomores and they ended with two wins. Head Coach Brigitte Greywater said, "I was glad we were able to send the sophomores out the right way, they have meant so much to this program that getting these wins was important. I was happy with our effort and energy all weekend. I think if we carry the momentum we have right now into the regional tournament we can be a very dangerous team."
