On Monday night, January 20th, the Lake Region State College Lady Royals basketball team traveled to Bismarck, ND to take on Bismarck State College in a MonDak Conference game.
At the end of the first quarter LRSC would keep it close trailing 23-20. It was in the second quarter that the Mystics would open the game up. Using a 12-2 run during the middle half of the quarter, the home team was able to extend their lead over the Lady Royals. Coming out of half trailing 45-32 Lake Region would hope to make a dent in the Bismarck State lead but every move was countered by a big Mystic bucket. LRSC would never get closer than double digits in the second half and would fall 89-68.
It was a cold shooting night for Lake Region shooting 32% from the floor 15% from 3 and 69% from the free throw line.
Jadyn Pollwert had 15 points and 11 rebounds, Steph Miller had 14 pionts.
Head Coach Danny Mertens said, "I thought we had our moments tonight. We were inconsistent and that cost us but when we were good we were good. One of our concerns this week was their press and we handled that better than at the MonDak tournament. We just need to have some players step up and knockdown shots when we need them."
Lady Royals are now 12-9 (2-2) with United Tribes coming to town Wednesday night, 6:30pm at the sportscenter.
