Head Women's Basketball Coach Danny Mertens is pleased to announce the signing of Maddy Leaf, from Warwick, ND.
During her senior year, Maddy put up, 19.4 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 3.3 apg, 4.6 spg, 1.6 bpg. She also has 2,548 career points which is good enough to place her in 6th place all time in Class B scoring history.
Head Coach Gus Kueber had this to say about Maddy, "She has a tremendous work ethic. She began playing varsity basketball when she was a 7th grade, so she will bring experience to go along with her toughness and physicality on the court. I truly believe Maddy will excel at the college level and will really enjoy getting better every day with her teammates. Being a Lake Region Alumni myself, I know the coaches and staff will do everything they can to help her be successful both on the court and in the classroom. I know she is looking forward to continuing the winning tradition of the Lady Royals."
Head Coach Danny Mertens said, "Every time I went and saw Maddy play one thing always stood out to me, how hard she would compete every game. Her drive was on a different level compared to other players on the floor. She can absolutely score the ball and that is one of her best assets. However, she is much more than a scorer, often tasked with guarding the other teams best player, rebounding and more. I am excited for all the things she is going to bring to the table and can't wait to get her in a Lady Royals uniform."
