Heading into the post-season tournament the Lady Royals softball team was fighting the grind of a shortened season. Coming off 20 games in 21 days, LRSC was hoping they could make some noise in the Region Tournament. On the year, Lake Region was 15-11 (6-10).
First up for the Lady Royals was Dawson Community College, a team they were 1-3 against on the season. Errors plagued LRSC, as they would commit five throughout the game, which led to five runs for Dawson. The Lady Royals were also unable to get the bats going throughout the game. The final score Dawson Community College 8 Lake Region State College 0.
Heading into a loser out situation against Williston State College, Lake Region was hoping to get a better start than their previous outing. They would lead off the game by getting runners on. A passed ball by the Tetons would score the first run for the Lady Royals. LRSC would add another run in the top of the 3rd to take a 2-1 lead. A big four-run bottom of the 3rd would give Williston State a 5-2 lead. They would never give it up, adding two more in the 5th to win 7-3 over the Royals.
Head Coach Kory Boehmer said after the game, "I think we are all a little disappointed the season did not go like we wanted it to. We were optimistic coming off our MonDak Championship. However, we have a lot to be proud of. We were challenged throughout the year by the weather, the schedule and other teams. I thought we rose to the occasion and battled every time."
The Lady Royals Softball team would end the season 15-13.
