Royals Softball Goes 1-1 in Bismarck

Bismarck, ND – April 19, 2016

With a soggy field in Devils Lake, the Lake Region State College Royals softball team traveled to Bismarck early Tuesday to find a drier diamond.  The Royals won the opener 7-6 with a come-from-behind victory scoring four runs in the sixth inning.  Hanna Gary earned the win pitching the final two innings in relief of Alaina McKinnon.  Hanna Gary had three hits including a fifth inning home run.  Emma Gary had a triple and double.  Kiahna Chumola's third hit of the game gave the Royals a 7-6 lead in the sixth inning.  Hanna pitched out of a jam stranding two runners in the seventh inning.

In the second game, Royals pitcher Mackenzie Sansom and the Mystics Cassidy Miller battled for five innings.  Bismarck held a 2-0 lead until the Royals tied the game on doubles by Haunani Morton and Hanna Gary in the bottom of the fifth.  Kassi Jones pitched the final two innings giving up a solo home run in the seventh inning for the 3-2 loss.

The Royals travel to Williston on Wednesday then return to face the Tetons at Roosevelt Park Thursday in games starting at 3pm.
