The University of Jamestown JV team grabbed a pair of wins over the Royals softball team by the scores of 9-1 & 17-11. Royals' pitcher Hanna Gary was the victim of a 7 run third inning in the first game spurred by two Jamestown home runs. Kiahna Chumola had the only hit off of Jamestown's pitcher Kaitlyn Combo, a double to provide the Royals only run scoring Jaimie Shaw.
In game two, Jamestown knocked out 17 runs on 16 hits off of two Royals pitchers, Kassi Jones & Alaina McKinnon. Three of the hits were home runs. Courtney Fines, Mackenzie Sansom, Haunani Morton, and Jade Ledochowski had home runs for the Royals who battled back from being down by 12 runs early. McKinnon replaced Jones in the second inning and managed to keep the Royals in the game and with several key hits, the game was extended to 7 innings. The team kept threatening but was not able to overcome the large lead. For the game, the Royals had 13 hits, 2 of them doubles (1 each by Courtney Fines and Jordan Gudmundson), and 4 home runs.
The Royals travel to Glendive, Montana this weekend to face Dawson Community College in four conference games.
