On Wednesday night, January 29th, the Lake Region State College men's basketball team traveled to Bottineau to take on Dakota College.
The shed was alive for the MonDak Conference game. The game lived up to the anticipation as neither team could garner up a lead of more than a few points. Back and forth both teams went all night until the Royals down with just over a minute to play Leif Nelson would receive the pass and nail a three from the top of the key to give the Royals 75-74 lead. DCB would be unable to convert on the other end forcing them to foul. Leif Nelson would come through calmly sinking both FT's to give the Royals a three point advantage. Another stop by Lake Region and Josh Kihle would head to the line to ice the game 79-74.
Dion Ford had 26pts and 9 rebounds, Beau Feltman had 18 points and 11 Rebounds, Leif Nelson had 17 points 5 rebounds and 6 assists.
Head Coach Jared Marshall had this to say after the game, "It was a total team effort tonight. To come into a place that is historically tough to play in, with a hostile crowd and snag a win is amazing. I could go down the line and pick out things each and every one of our guys did well tonight. We never once got rattled, we never once got down, we just continued to work and pulled out a road win."
The Royals are now 9-14 (3-4). Next up is a road trip to Williston and Miles City for a pair of road conference games.
Go Royals!
