Royals Prevail in High Scoring MonDak Opener
On Thursday night, the Lake Region State College men's basketball team traveled to Bottineau, ND to take on the Dakota College Jacks.
On Thursday night, the Lake Region State College men's basketball team traveled to Bottineau, ND to take on the Dakota College Jacks. It would be the MonDak opener for the Royals.
LRSC did not get the start they wanted as DCB jumped out to a 14-2 lead. A quick timeout to regroup and the Royals rattled off a run of their own to tie it up at 16. At the half the Royals would lead 56-46. The pace would not slow down in the second as both teams would stay hot from the field. The Royals would shoot 65% from the field and 57% from 3. Bottineau would shoot 49% from the field and 52% from 3 on their way to a 110-95 victory over Bottineau.
The Royals would be led by Lamarr Wood who had an outstanding game going 13-18 from the field scoring 30 points and snagging 8 rebounds. Guards TJ Mickelson, 22 points 6 assists and Jordan Lynn 21 Points 5 rebounds, would combine to go 9-12 from behind the arc.
After the game Head Coach Jared Marshall said, "Wow. What a game. We did not get the start we wanted, they came out hitting but we weathered the storm and made a run of our own. Top to bottom I was very happy with how we played. We got great minutes from our bench and had some big games from starters. It feels good to start off MonDak play with a win. We need to enjoy this and then get ready for Dawson on Sunday."
The Royals will take on Dawson CC on Sunday at 3pm at the sportscenter. With the win Lake Region is now 13-5 (1-0) on the year.
