Hot Shooting Wildcats down Royals
The Lake Region State College Royals basketball team traveled to Wahpeton, ND to take on the league leading Wildcats of NDSCS.
The Lake Region State College Royals basketball team traveled to Wahpeton, ND to take on the league leading Wildcats of NDSCS. Coming into the game the Royals were 17-10 (5-4) while NDSCS was 21-5 (8-1).
Despite a barrage of threes in the first half where NDSCS would make 10-15, the Royals found themselves only trailing by 13 at the half. It was 45-32 in favor of NDSCS. LRSC would weather an early storm from the Wildcats and make a run of their own. The Royals would cut the lead down to 4, 55-51 with 8 minutes to go forcing an NDSCS timeout. However, that would be as close at it would get as the Wildcats would close the game on a 31-10 run to take the win 86-61. NDSCS would make 17-30 three's on the night to take down the Royals. Jordan Lynn would lead the way for the Royals with 15 points, Cedric Boone would have 13 points and Denier Campbell would provide a spark off the bench and give 11 points to the Royals.
Head Coach Jared Marshall would say after the game, "We had to overcome some adversity tonight and we did for the most part. I was proud of the way we played, cutting the lead to 4. We had our chances, just couldn't take advantage of them."
With the loss LRSC drops to 17-11 (5-5) with some time off before their game versus UTTC in Bismarck on Sunday at 3pm.
