The Lake Region State College Men's Basketball team traveled to Belcourt, ND to take on Turtle Mountain Community College. The Royals came into the game with an 8-3 record and were coming off their first road games of the year.
LRSC would come out with a good start and jump out to an early 17-8. Despite a tough shooting start, the Royals continued to attack the hoop and extended the lead to 27-17 half way through the first. It was then that TMCC would heat up. Turtle Mountain ended the first half on a 29-19 run to tie it up 46-46 at the half. In the second half, the Royals would turn up the energy and start the half on a 19-9 run. LRSC would never look back and win the game 99-80.
Once again, the Royals would rely on their depth to get the job done. Five different Royals would score double figures with 14 players scoring on the night. LRSC were led by a trio of freshman in Lamarr Wood 17 points, Denier Campbell 15 points, and Jordan Lynn 11 points provided the spark for the Royals. Sophomores James Streeter had a big night in the paint with 14 points.
Head Coach Jared Marshall said about the game, "The big thing we need to work on is sustaining constant energy out on the floor. We go through cycles where we turn it on and off, as a team, we need to play a full 40 minutes. Our depth continues to be a strength. We continue to have guys step up in different ways every night. I also liked the way we controlled the glass all night, we had all 5 players on the floor boxing out all night."
The Royals move to 9-3 on the year. They will be back in action Friday 4pm vs. Concordia JV and Saturday 2pm vs. Leech Lake in Wahpeton, ND.
