Lake Region State College Men's Basketball player Harvey Barr has been selected to represent his home country of Great Britain at the Under-20's European Championship. He is one of 12 players on the roster. Last week during the prep tournament in Portugal, Harvey started 2 out of the 3 games. The Great Britain Squad went 1-2 with losses to Portugal and Finland but bounced back in their final game defeating Belarus.
Harvey Barr commented, "I'm delighted to be a part of the final team to participate in the European Championships in Romania. The preperation friendlies in the build up exposed me to the highest level of basketball yet. I am really looking forward to being exposed to that level on such a prestigious stage. I have already learnt so much regarding my own areas of improvement as well as how each country has it's own system and style of play. I feel like with each opposition there is the opportunity to learn a great deal. I can't wait to get started and help out the Great Britain team and achieve as high a finish as possible."
Head Men's Basketball Coach Jared Marshall said, "What a tremendous honor and accomplishment for Harvey being able to represent his country on the basketball court. I am very proud of him. He worked so hard last this past season to improve as a player and it has payed off. He is getting to go up against some of the best players his age in the world and that is only going to make him better for us this coming season."
The FIBA U20 European Championship Division B will be held in Romania July 14-23.
