Head Golf Coach Randy Fixen knew that his squad was primed for a big day 2 after the first round.
Head Golf Coach Randy Fixen knew that his squad was primed for a big day 2 after the first round. He said, "I just knew we were capable of a much better day. We were right there on so many putts, had some really close chips and a few great shots."
He was right, the Royals golf team came out with a purpose and made some very big improvements. Sophomore Casey Julson started out the day T-34th, he shaved 6 strokes off his previous days score to shoot a 77 and move his way up to T-24th. Freshman Nick Brockman was able to shave 13 strokes off his previous days score, he shot a 90 and moved from 49th to 46th. Freshman Austin Kozojed and Freshman Bryce Sibelius both shot the same score as the day before. Bryce shot a 108, finishing in 50th and Austin with an 88, finishing in 43rd place.
Overall, the Royals finished in 8th place in the tournament. They competed against 2 year and 4 year from the area and Canada. Coach Fixen said, "I am extremely proud of the way we competed today. I think this gives us great momentum heading into the Regional Tournament."
The Royals will head to the Regional Tournament the first weekend in October. For updates on the program check out @LRSCGolf and @LRSCRoyals. Or follow us on our page on Facebook LRSC Athletics and check out LRSCRoyals.com to keep you up to date on all things Royals athletics.
