Lake Region State College sophomore Eric Gullicks finished the NJCAA National Golf Tournament tied for 105th. Gullicks shot a 78, 89, 84 and an 82 in the four rounds at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Ind., for a total score of 333.
"It was an overall decent day," Gullicks said. "I hit the ball much better, and my putter started to heat up towards the end. A couple lousy mistakes costed me five strokes on two holes."
The tournament went from Monday through Thursday.
"Eric played well on his last day at the tournament," Royals head coach Shane Hersch said. "His putter finally caught on and he drove the ball well. He may have not played as well as he would've wanted to for the week, but I'm proud of the way he competed and his composure throughout the four days. It's a big difference playing against golfers from schools who have a spring golf season, but Eric didn't make excuses and he represented Lake Region at the highest level, competing for a National Championship."
