Eric Gullicks Day 2 of NJCAA National Golf Tournament
Day 2 of the NJCAA National Golf Tournament proved to be a difficult one for all the golfers.
Day 2 of the NJCAA National Golf Tournament proved to be a difficult one for all the golfers. The day saw only 8 golfers keep their score below par. Lake Region State golfer Eric Gullicks was among those who were challenged.
Head Golf Coach Shane Hersch said, "I'm sure Eric won't admit it, but there were positives from today. He had more than a few birdie chances and he drove the ball deep down the fairways. He got himself in some trouble, but Eric has the composure to play well on this course. The field went high in general today so he'll regroup and play a solid round tomorrow. Eric's best golf for this tournament is ahead of him."
When asked about his day Gullicks said, "It was a tough day, take away the 5 hazard balls away and the score would really come down. My putter was off again and has been a weaker point for me. I was a little all over the place. Hopefully the weather holds off and I can continue my rhythm from the last few holes today and carry that in to tomorrow. I'll definitely be on the putting greens pre-round."
Hole 4, the toughest hole of the course, gave Gullicks the most trouble as he had 2 OB's on the hole and finished with an 11 on it. He rebounded after that to par 4 of the next 7 holes, which helped him establish the rhythm he was talking about.
Eric finished the day with an 89 and tied for 105th on the day. Tee times for day 3 are to be determined. Check back on facebook at LRSC Athletics and twitter @LRSCRoyals, @LRSCGolf for updates.
