Game 1 vs. Mount Marty JV
Lake Region State College Royals lost the lead late in a 5-2 defeat to Mount Marty College - JV on Sunday. The game was tied at one with Mount Marty College - JV batting in the top of the fifth when an error scored one run for Mount Marty College - JV. Mount Marty College - JV got on the board in the first inning. #40 singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run. In the bottom of the second inning, Lake Region State College Royals Varsity tied things up at one. Alex Jinda grounded out, scoring one run. After Mount Marty College - JV scored one run in the top of the seventh, Lake Region State College Royals answered with one of their own. Mount Marty College - JV scored when an error scored one run for Mount Marty College - JV. Lake Region State College Royals then answered when James Sampson-keck hit a solo homer. #6 earned the victory on the pitcher's mound for Mount Marty College - JV. He went three innings, allowing one run on one hit, striking out two and walking one. Blake Patterson took the loss for Lake Region State College Royals Varsity. He allowed three hits and three runs over four innings, striking out two. #27 started the game for Mount Marty College - JV. He allowed two hits and one run over four innings, striking out one. Lake Region State College Royals hit one home run on the day. Sampson-keck put one out in the seventh inning. Robert Nickell, Brody Stark, and Sampson-keck each collected one hit to lead Lake Region State College Royals.
Game 2 vs. Mount Marty JV
Lake Region State College Royals defeated Mount Marty College - JV 6-3 on Sunday. Lake Region State College Royals notched three runs in the sixth inning. Lake Region State College Royals put the pressure on, led by a single by Kyler Halverson and an error on a ball put in play by Adrian Rodriguez. Liam Sommer pitched Lake Region State College Royals to victory. He lasted five innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out nine. Justin Young and Brock Degooyer entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. #29 took the loss for Mount Marty College - JV. He went five and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs on three hits and striking out four. Robert Nickell went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Lake Region State College Royals Varsity in hits. #38 led Mount Marty College - JV with two hits in four at bats.
Game 3 vs. Central Lake College
Lake Region State College Royals defeated Central Lake College 10-7 thanks to a strong start. Lake Region State College Royals scored on an error, a double by Remy Stern, a walk by Kyler Halverson, a single by Tarick Morris, a single by Alex Jinda, a single by Taylor Musgrave, and a single by Noah Widmer in the second inning. There was plenty of action on the base paths as Lake Region State College Royals collected eight hits and Central Lake College had ten. After Lake Region State College Royals scored one run in the top of the seventh, Central Lake College answered with one of their own. Lake Region State College Royals scored when Halverson grounded out, scoring one run. Central Lake College then answered when #3 singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Brock Degooyer threw three and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen. #19 took the loss for Central Lake College. He surrendered ten runs on eight hits over seven innings, striking out 11. Widmer led Lake Region State College Royals with two hits in four at bats. Adrian Rodriguez led Lake Region State College Royals with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with four stolen bases. Central Lake College tallied ten hits on the day. #8, #3, and #12 each managed multiple hits for Central Lake College.
Game 4 vs. Central Lakes College
Lake Region State College Royals grabbed an early lead on its way to a 13-6 victory over Central Lake College on Monday. Lake Region State College Royals scored on a single by Robert Nickell in the first inning, a single by Noah Widmer in the first inning, a error in the first inning, and a single by Nickell in the second inning. There was plenty of action on the base paths as Lake Region State College Royals collected 15 hits and Central Lake College had nine. In the bottom of the first inning, Lake Region State College Royals tied things up at three. An error scored one run for Lake Region State College Royals Varsity. Lake Region State College Royals pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning. In the second Nickell singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run. Lake Region State College Royals put up three runs in the fifth inning. Lake Region State College Royals offense in the inning was led by Taylor Musgrave, Widmer, and Jakob Crank, all knocking in runs in the inning. Carson Heroux led things off on the pitcher's mound for Lake Region State College Royals. Head Coach Kyal Williams had this to say about the Royals first action, "The first two days down here have been fantastic, the energy from the player group is fantastic and it shows on the field. We are able to motivate each other to be successful. Pitching, fielding and hitting have all been well above what I imagined especially practicing indoors during the off season. The playing group have been outstanding and working extremely hard to be successful. Coming out 3-1 in the first four games is a great sign of things to come from this team."
