The Lake Region State College Royals baseball team struggled this weekend against a very good Bottineau squad, dropping 3 of their 4 games. The Royals lacked that spark to really get them going, leaving many opportunities that could have shifted the momentum back in their favor. Jayden Komrosky was the pick of the starting pitchers, after picking up the win in game two with a gutsy effort fighting through some tough situations to keep control and make it hard for Bottineau to get base runners. Bryce Hunt, Michael Fitzpatrick and Blake Patterson were not at their absolute best but fought hard and kept grinding. The Royals bats were there all weekend, but could not find a way to come up clutch in vital situations during each game. Ezra Johnson was the pick of the hitters grabbing 10 hits over the weekend, with two doubles and a homerun. Brett Boudreau and Jacob Parsons picking up 6 hits each as Brett Boudreau had 2 Homeruns in a game. Landyn Swenson and Alex Jinda picking up 4. A huge effort this weekend from the Royals relief pitchers, Justin Young, Ryan Alain, Tyler Renken and Kevin Krumm who pitched extremely well to keep the game at bay and give the Royals a chance to fight back.
Royals are back in action tonight against Bismarck State College at 3 & 5pm at Legion Field. With the conference tournament starting Friday in Williston ND.
