Royals Baseball Kicks off MonDak Play on the Road

April 18th: The start of our Mon-Dak season saw the Royals head to Bismarck ND to face Bismarck State College. Coming off a long break between games due to some very average weather it was the first time the Royals were able to get outside and play. The Royals defense was a little rusty and Bismarck State jumped out to an early lead. But as the Royals have done all year they fought back hard, scoring in the third and fifth to keep the game close. Unfortunately dropping game one 7-3 Alex Jinda leading the way with the bat with two hits, and Bryce Hunt and Justin Young worked hard on the mound to keep the Royals in striking distance.

Game 2: Started with a bang as the Royals jumped out to a 6 run top of the first and brought in 2 more in the second with some great hitting from the team. But Bismarck State College were up to the challenge and never let go. Going down in five innings with a score 20-10. Landyn Swenson, Ezra Johnson and Tarick Morris each recording two hits. Nick Hoyt, Tarick Morris and Brett Boudreau all hitting homeruns in the slug fest.

April 20th: Coming off a tough road trip to Bismarck the Royals were on the road to Williston ND, to take on Williston State College. The Royals watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in an 11-0 loss to Williston State College. Williston were able to shut down the hot bat of the Royals and made it impossible to fight back. Alex Jinda, Tarick Morris and Adrian Rodriguez picking up the only hits in the game. Michael Fitzpatrick fought hard on the mound but Williston were able to find every hole in the field.

Game 2: The Royals put game one behind them and scored in the first and the second inning. But that was not enough to stop a hot hitting Williston team scoring 12 runs. Putting the game out of reach for the Royals. Alex Jinda lead the way with two hits, Ezra Johnson, Brett Boudreau, and Brody Stark each got a hit. Blake Patterson and Kevin Krumm, kept fighting all game to keep the Royals in the fight.

April 21st: A new series and a new Royals team showed up against Dawson Community College. Pitching was the key the whole weekend. Justin Young showed great work on the mound throwing 5 innings and keeping the game on the Royals terms. Landyn Swenson, Ezra Johnson, Brett Boudreau and Alex Jinda each recorded a hit. Great defense from both sides saw the Royals drop game one final score 2-1.

Game 2: Saw a very similar game to game one, with Ryan Alain showing his class on the mound throwing 5.1 innings. With another great defense keeping Dawson to only 2 runs, but the Royals couldn't get timely hits to get the win. Landyn Swenson, Ezra Johnson, Jacob Parsons and Brody Stark each getting a hit. Dropping the game 2-1.

April 22nd: Another day of pitching dominance gave Royals the advantage to take the win in game one. Bryce Hunt on the mound pitched 5.2 innings showed exactly how he can shut down a side with movement and location. With a couple of fielding mistakes behind him, Bryce kept his control and gave the Royals every chance of winning. Tyler Renken came in to close and shut the door on Dawson with powerful pitching. Royals Offense came alive in the bottom of the first scoring 3 runs, adding another in the second and the fourth to take the game 5-4. Landyn Swenson, Ezra Johnson, Jacob Parsons and Adrian Rodriguez each collecting hits.

Game 2: With the momentum from game one, the Royals looked to Jayden Komrosky to give them a sweep of the day. Jayden did not disappoint going 6.1 innings of great pitching and dominance on the mound. The Royals jumped out early getting a 2-1 lead after the 3rd, and kept strong after Dawson tied the game in the fifth. Dawson were able to get one run in the top of the 7th with the Royals have 3 outs to tie the game. The Royals kept fighting and got runners on for a chance to tie and also win the game. With an executed bunt that tied the game and an over throw from the fielder brought in the winning run as the Royals walked off the win in the bottom of the 7th. Landyn Swenson, Ezra Johnson and Brody Stark each recorded a hit. Adrian Rodriguez had been given an extremely tough task to tie the game and he was able to execute it perfectly for his team.

The Royals will make their first appearance at home tomorrow against Williston State College. Game times will be 4pm and 6pm at Legion Field in Roosevelt Park.
