Lake Region State College headed down to Nebraska to face Southeast Community College in a three game series. It was a hard fought series with the Royals playing some really good baseball. The downfall was with a couple of innings here and there letting them down.
Game 1: The Royals dropped game one 14-5, as Southeast CC jumping out to a early lead. Pitching from behind most of the game it was hard for the Royals to stop the hot bats from doing damage. Michael Fitzpatrick and Justin Young fought hard on the mound and kept the Royals in the game. The offense looked formidable at times, working the count and stringing good at bats together. However, Lake Region could not cut into the lead. Alex Jinda and Ezra Johnson both had two hits for the Royals.
Game 2: The Royals started out hot in game 2, bringing in four runs in the top of the first. It was a team effort with the bats that give them an early lead.Southeast CC would fight back scoring 2, 3 and 7 in the next 3 innings. Jayden Komrosky looked dominate at times, but just couldn't stop the bats from firing. Ryan Alain and Tyler Renken came in and really held Southeast at bay, commanding the zone and keeping the hitters off balance only giving up 1 run in 3 innings. The Royals bats went silent after the first until the sixth and seventh picking up two runs in both innings. Brett Boudreau, Nick Hoyt and Tarick Morris both picking up two hits. Alex Jinda and Nick Hoyt both hit home runs to bring back some momentum. Unfortunately, the damage had been done and the Royals could not close the gap. They dropped game two 13-8.
Game 3: A cold morning had the Royals fighting for a chance to come away with a win. Blake Patterson on the mound was exceptional. He did a great job working through some tough situations with good command and clutch pitching to give LRSC four innings of work. Kevin Krumm worked two solid innings finding it tough against a very good hitting side. For the Royals the offense didnt produce as well as the first two games only picking up 3 hits during the game with Alex Jinda, Ezra Johnson and Landyn Swenson all contributing. The final 10-1 in favor of Southeast.
Head Coach Kyal Williams said, "It was a tough series, but the noys showed some high level of baseball that looks extremely promising for the conference season. We just need to keep moving forward and improve. The team will come out ready to go and compete every game."
