Coming into these games it was an extremely important weekend for the Royals. It didn't start out the way the Royals wanted in the first game. The home team gave up 4 unearned runs in the game making things difficult on LRSC's pitcher Bryce Hunt. Head Coach Kyal Williams said, "It is always tough to come away with a win when runs are given to your opponent" he continued, "Bryce was unfazed with the errors behind him and continued to throw strikes and get important outs to keep Dawson to a low score of 5." Bryce pitched his best game of the year going all 7 innings and only giving up 1 earned run. The offense gave the Royals some life, scoring 3 runs, but leaving way too many runners on in scoring position. In the bottom of the 7th they had a chance, trailing 5-3 the Royals had runners on the corners with 2 outs. They were unable to bring the runners in falling in the first game to the Buccaneers 5-3.
After a tough loss the Royals could have easily folded and walked away from the game, but they came out ready. The bats came alive and strong pitching gave the Royals an 8-5 win. Jared Gesell and Tyler Renken combined for seven strong innings on the mound and kept the game in our favor. The offense racked up 12 hits throughout the game. Landyn Swenson, Jon Lund, Brett Boudreau and Landen Hall all recorded multiple hits throughout the game. Head Coach Kyal Williams said, "It was nice to finally have everything starting to work as we are getting closer to conference tournament time is a nice feeling and give us the confidence we need heading into a big weekend versus Bottineau."
